Grandparent's Day Celebration (Primary Section)

A Report by HOS Rashida Jamali

People around the world celebrate Fathers’ Day, Mothers’ Day and many such days.  They show their love and respect to their parents on this particular day by giving them gifts and cards-once a year.

In Ashara waaz (Dubai, 1425) Aqa Moula stated that we momeneen do not wait for these days to show respect to our parents. In fact parents, should be respected everyday throughout their lives.  We should greet them every morning by doing salaam.

In the light of

البركة مع اكابركم

الجنة تحت اقدام الامهات

and the Kalemaat Nooraniyah of Aqa Moula(tus), Grandparents’ Day was organized by the students al Madrasa tus Saifiyatul Burhaniyah, Bangalore, studying in the primary section (STD I-IV), on Wednesday, 14th October 2009 at Burhani Masjid, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.

The programme started with Tilawatul-Quran-al Karim and was followed by short enactments and poem recitation by all the students of the primary section.  After the grandchildren it was the turn of the grandparents to perform.  They had a wonderful time playing games like musical chair, bombing the cities, housie and word game.  The children were amazed and overwhelmed to see their grandparents jostling and bubbling full of energy and actively participating in all the games.

As we say that, as and when we grow old we become children again-this was a life-time experience for the grandparents as they were thoroughly enjoying the games and going through the real experience of being children again.  After the games, the grandparents were served snacks.

The grandparents showed their love for their grandchildren and institution by taking all the efforts to attend this celebration, just to see a smile on their grandchildren’s face.

They left the programme with smiles and happiness and eagerly looked forward for many more wonderful and energetic displays of this kind in the future.

May Allah grant a long and healthy life to our beloved Roohani Bawa Moulana Mohammed Burhanuddin, till the day of Qiyamat. Amin.
